The Arsh Group is finalizing the most recent five-year master plan for the Schererville Parks and Recreation Department. This plan will serve as the official policy guide for the department, providing guidance not only for its most immediate needs, but also for the projected needs of Schererville. The updated master plan will focus on the following four core areas:

  • Park Facilities, ensuring an appropriate distribution of park locations and amenities;
  • Park Programs, expanding programs for youth and families, while maintaining a high-quality level of service for existing programs;
  • Park Operation & Management, helping the Park Department to become more sustainable, encourage new partnerships, and promote better service, maintenance, and security throughout the park system; and
  • Trails, creating a continuous and coordinated network of off-road walking paths, bicycle lanes, and regional trail networks.

After the completion and approval of 2013-2017 Schererville Parks and Recreation Master Plan, The Arsh Group is currently working to update the town's Impact Fee. This work represents the third update since the fee's initial enactment in 1997. The study will aim to update the recreational level of service, funding needs, and schedules of fees and charges as required by the state statutes.

The Arsh Group is working with the city of Crown Point to develop prototypes for their gateway beautification initiative. This project began with a city-wide inventory to determine potential gateway location and treatment options. The Arsh Group also developed a series of prototypes for the city's two major interchanges at 109th St. and U.S. 231.

To assist with the continued development of East Chicago's Washington Square neighborhood, the East Chicago Department of Redevelopment retained The Arsh Group to be the project manager, overseeing the construction of six new homes. Groundbreaking on this new construction occurred in October 2012, with the homes expected to be completed and ready for move-in in spring 2013.

After completing the 2012 Strategic Plan for the East Chicago Housing Authority (ECHA), The Arsh Group and ECHA have begun the first implementation phase of the project. The centerpiece of this phase concerns the reconfiguration of the Hunter Building into a mixed-income residential facility. The Arsh Group will serve as ECHA's advisor and consultant through this process, including facilitating resident meetings, RFQ preparation for prospective developers, and establishing a new marketing & branding campaign for the project and ECHA.
